Colombia. The name alone sounds like an adventure, right? Jungle-covered mountains, misty valleys, sleepy villages, volcanoes, beaches, and coffee strong enough to wake the dead. For motorcycle travelers, this place is pure magic—and the best way to explore it is on two wheels.
At Donkey Sunrise, we live and breathe motorcycle travel in Colombia. Literally. We've hosted hundreds of riders from all over the world who came here looking for the ultimate ride—and we’ve seen every kind of loop, route, and wild detour imaginable. So, what's the perfect motorcycle route through Colombia? Truth is… it’s personal. But we can help you find yours.
From 1-day wanders to 4-week adventures
Whether you’ve got one day to ride a nice loop or 4 full weeks to chase the horizon, Donkey Sunrise is the perfect launchpad. From our home base in La unión, Valle del Cauca, you can roll straight into the mountains, dive into Colombia’s heartland, and be completely off the tourist radar within the first hour.
Not ready for a mega loop? We’ve created some amazing day routes, ranging from 2 till 8 hours, that you can do from Donkey Sunrise perfectly. These rides are 100% off the beaten path, and we promise: you won’t bump into another motorcycle traveler out there. Just you and a couple of chickens, exploring the real Colombia.
Ride your own motorycle loop in Colombia (we’ll help)
Some riders want silky-smooth pavement winding through the Andes, helmet full of mountain air and not a pothole in sight. Others are in it for the dirt—remote jungle tracks, mud-splattered boots, and the kind of roads where Google Maps just shrugs.
The good news? Colombia has it all, and you don’t have to pick just one.
If you're not sure where to start, we're here to help. We'll hook you up with the right bike (if you don't have one already), GPX files, and tips to make your loop unforgettable.

Skip the crowds, find the moments
Sure, places like Salento and Guatapé are popular for a reason—they’re beautiful and super photogenic. But on a motorcycle, you don’t have to follow the tour bus circuit. You’ve got freedom. That means stumbling into those hidden villages, unexpected views, and random roadside food stands serving the best empanada of your life.
Or take a slow ride through the Coffee Triangle, hitting the scenic backroads between farms, thermal springs, and sleepy towns. We even have a custom Coffee Region Motorcycle Tour if you want to follow our lead.
The wild roads are calling
Want something a little... spicier? Try riding the Trampolín de la Muerte (“Death Trampoline” – no big deal ;-)), a very popular route amongst motorcycle travelers. Though, we can guarantee you: there are way more spicy roads to find in Colombia. During the years, we had some dare devils rolling in, that took up the challenge of our routes (and made some new routes for other dare devils to explore!). If you want steep inclines, or looking forward to fight some mud - let us know! We got you covered!
Build your loop, your way
What we love most about motorcycle travel in Colombia is this: you make it your own. Some folks go big—10 days, 2,000+ km loops from the Caribbean to the Amazon. Others just want a quick escape for a day or two, riding loops that make you feel a million miles away from anything.
We’ve got pre-built routes, custom plans, and loads of advice. Whether you’re here to relax or push your limits, we’ve got the ride for you.
Let's ride
So yeah, the perfect motorcycle loop around Colombia? It’s out there. And whether it's your first big ride or your 50th, we're stoked to help you make it one for the books.
Swing by Donkey Sunrise, grab one of our roasted coffees, and let’s start planning your adventure!
