We’ve come a long way on good vibes, teamwork, and a whole lot of duct tape. Now, it’s time to level up. Donkey Sunrise is growing and with that comes the need for someone who can turn our beautiful chaos into calm, smooth operations without losing the magic. That's why we’re on the lookout for a hands-on General Manager to help us move forward!
This is not a desk job. It’s a boots-on-the-ground, make-shit-happen, lead-with-heart kind of role. You’ll be the glue between people, processes, and that wild spark that makes Donkey Sunrise what it is.We’re not looking for a corporate manager. We’re looking for someone who’s just as comfortable checking a plumbing leak as they are building a volunteer schedule. Someone who sees the bigger picture and actually enjoys the daily puzzle of making it all work.
What you’ll be doing
This role is all about making sure things flow. From the people and the spaces to the systems behind the scenes.
👋 Daily life & guest experience
Make sure every guest feels like they’ve landed somewhere special
Keep bookings, check-ins, and the vibe running smooth
Look after the property like it’s your own: rooms, kitchen, cleanliness, hospitality
👥 Team & volunteer leadership
Lead with clarity, kindness, and direction
Support and structure a growing team of staff and volunteers
Set up schedules, responsibilities, and a solid volunteer program
⚙️ Systems & structure
Turn “this is how we’ve always done it” into “this is how we do it now”
Document workflows, simplify tasks, and make things repeatable
Keep everyone in the loop and things running like a well-oiled chain
📈 Operations & oversight
Monitor budgets, costs, and day-to-day spending
Track performance using tools like Lobbylink
Oversee maintenance and improvements
🚀 Leadership & vision
Work closely with the core team to improve how we do what we do
Bring ideas, take initiative, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks
Balance structure with spontaneity — because we’re not a hotel, we’re a community
Who you are
We’re looking for someone with experience in hospitality, operations, or team leadership — someone who knows what it takes to keep people, places, and plans running smoothly. You’re super organized, a great communicator, and you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and dive into the day-to-day. You speak fluent English (Spanish is a big plus), and you’re comfortable with digital tools like Google Drive, booking systems, and checklists. Most importantly, you genuinely enjoy working with people, bringing structure to chaos, and turning a good plan into real-world magic.
