What you'll experience
You don’t just ride roads here. You ride stories!
Spanish arrival, independence, coffee routes that shaped the country, and a Colombia that has rebuilt itself with pride and warmth. This landscape has fed the world for centuries, and now you get to ride through it.
This itinerary is a living guide. We chase the best weather and the best rides, adjusting for the group's needs.
Day 0: arrival at Donkey Sunrise
Welcome home! You’ll arrive at our HQ, Donkey Sunrise, where we’ll get you settled with a great meal and a warm welcome. We’ll cover the briefing, explain the route, and get your motorcycle perfectly set up and ready to roll. Tonight is about relaxing, meeting the group and preparing for the adventure ahead.
Day 1: Ridges, waterfalls & wings
We kick off the ride by crossing a spectacular mountain ridge with sweeping views of the valley below. The route takes us onto a beautiful dirt road that cuts through a biodiversity hotspot. Expect distinct climate changes as we climb from the tropical warmth of the valleys up into the fresh, cooler mountain air by the end of the day. Keep your eyes open; this area is teeming with waterfalls and boasts one of the highest densities of bird species in the country.
Day 2: Into the Jungle of Cocorná
We start the morning in a charming coffee town before heading deep into the lush jungle region of Cocorná. This area is a hidden gem, famous for its balnearios and crystal-clear natural river pools (charcos) along the Río Cocorná. We’ll end the day at a stunning finca immersed in nature, where you can watch monkeys swinging through the trees right above us.
Day 3: Tropical vibes to Norcasia
We leave the pavement behind to tackle a remote dirt track winding through a landscape of endless tropical green. You will ride through a stunning maze of rolling hills, tracing the banks of the crystal-clear Río La Miel. It is an immersive journey along the water's edge, leading us straight into the heart of Norcasia.
Day 4: From the Valley into the clouds
We start by heading south to La Victoria for a dip in a secret natural pool hidden in the landscape. The route then takes a turn into history as we pass through the ruins of Armero, a town reclaimed by nature after the tragic mudslide of 1985. From there, the ride points skyward: prepare for thrilling asphalt twisties as we climb out of the tropical heat, rising through the coffee zone and up to the breathtaking paramo ecosystem at over 3,000 meters in Murillo.
Day 5: The big finale: touching the roof of the Andes
Prepare for the pinnacle of the journey: Los Nevados National Park. We ride over the high-altitude pass of Nevado del Ruiz at 4,200 meters (13,700 ft). After the high-altitude thrill, we’ll pause for a well-earned lunch and a soothing soak in natural thermal baths. The final leg is pure riding joy, carving through the coffee region’s beautiful asphalt twisties all the way back to home base at Donkey Sunrise. Here, we'll have our big farewell dinner & share all the memories we've made together.
Day 6: departure
We'll have one final breakfast together before we say our goodbyes (or better: our see you soon's!). Please note that airport transfers for your departure are not included.
