SALENTO SPRINGS

DETAILS

4 DAYS - 4 NIGHTS

BANANAS

999 USD

This 4 day trip includes an arrival day, 4 nights, and 3 riding days. We will experience a combination on and off-road terrain, rated 3 bananas! You will have an average of 4-6 hours in the saddle per day, depending on the pace of the group.

DAY 1

Arrival day. Meet at Donkey Sunrise Basecamp at your leisure [we can organize airport pick-ups as needed]. Get a tour introduction, and meet the other riders over a beer and family-style dinner prior to the adventure ahead! Accommodations at our guesthouse for the night

DAY 2

Depart from Donkey Sunrise Basecamp after a hot breakfast and local coffee. This mornings ride takes us through the rolling green hills of the beautiful lush coffee region of Eje Cafetero, on and off road. We roll into the colorful historic town of Filandia, known as the hidden gem of the coffee region, for lunch, and of course coffee. After our break for lunch, we have a beautiful winding off-road climb into higher elevations, dropping into the Salento Valley, where we will post up for the night at a hotel in town.

DAY 3

After breakfast and coffee in town, we head to see the iconic Wax Palms of Salento in the Cocora Valley, the tallest in the world standing at an impressive 60 meters high! This ride is one of our favorites for its breathtaking views and winding roads. We lose the pavement and head to La Florida, Risaralda for lunch. This next ride will put our off-road skills to the test, as we head to Santa Rosa de Cabal, in the heart of the coffee region, where we will get to tour a plantation and sample some of the goods! Your challenging day will be rewarded as we head into the mountains for an evening soak in the natural hot springs. The trail stops here, and we stay at a local hotel.

DAY 4

Todays ride is relaxed and beautiful as we ride through the undulating roads of the Nevado de Ruiz mountains, we will hit the highest point in the coffee region here, hoping to score a sighting of the endangered Andean Condor, the largest flying bird in the world with its over 3 meter wingspan! Stopping for lunch and a visit to the Christo Rey monument in Belalcazar. We take the long way home, winding through sugar cane fields and coffee farms and back to Donkey Sunrise headquarters, where a cold beer and a family-style meal awaits us. Relax into the eve after a mission accomplished, reflecting on stories made with new friends! Accommodations at our guesthouse included.
