CAFETERO CRUISIN'

DETAILS

6 DAYS

BANANAS

This tour includes 6 days and 6 nights will include 5 days of riding a combination on and off-road terrain, with one rest day in the middle. Averaging of 4-6 hours in the saddle per day, depending on the pace of the group, rated 3 bananas!

DAY 1

Arrival day. Meet at Donkey Sunrise Basecamp at your leisure [we can organize airport pick-ups as needed]. Get a tour introduction, and meet the other riders over a cold beer and family-style dinner prior to the adventure ahead! Accommodations at our guesthouse for the night

DAY 2

We will depart from Donkey Sunrise Basecamp after a hot breakfast and local coffee...today is a long riding day! As we wind through the lush coffee region, we make our way into the mountains and through small colonial towns, to our destination Jardin (Spanish for "garden"). Nicknamed the most beautiful town in Colombia, it's known for its colorful architecture, charming cobblestone streets, and of course, coffee. Here we will spend the night, in the "garden town" of the mountains.

DAY 3

After breakfast, we hit the mountain roads again, cruising through more colorful colonial towns of the Cafetero region, such as Jericho, and Tamesis - recognized by its striking waterfall backdrop of the town. After a stop in Valparaiso for lunch, we have a beautiful mountainous ride, ending up in Salamina for the evening.

DAY 4

We wake up in Salamina, a lesser known hidden gem of a town also known for its wax palms. Today is a "rest day", with only a short ride to Bosque de Palma de Sera la Samaria, and a coffee finca, where a local guide will give us a tour of a plantation and sample some of the goods! We stay the night here again.

DAY 5

We hit the pavement after breakfast up to Manizales, the highest point in the Cafetero region. The ride back down loosens up smooth open turns, a nice cruise to enjoy the incredible views. We head to some natural hot springs of the region, where we will have lunch and a well deserved soak in the pools. After a long break, we lose the pavement on for a fun off-road ride weaving through more of the iconic palms of the Cocora valley, where we stay in the charming town of Salento.

DAY 6

After breakfast in town, we cruise over to spend the morning under the iconic Wax Palms of Salento. This area has some of the most spectacular views of the Cocora Valley. We head to the Charming colorful town of Filandia, the coffee capitol for lunch, and more coffee! This is our final decent through the mountains and back to Donkey Sunrise, where a cold beer and a home-cooked meal will be waiting for us. Spend the evening unwinding and celebrating a mission accomplished and memories made with new friends! Accommodations at our guesthouse included.
